Wawel Royal Castle is a defensive and residential castle strategically located in a bend of the Vistula River on Wawel Hill, which also houses Wawel Cathedral. Rebuilt many times, Wawel Castle today impresses with its magnificent courtyard and meticulously restored interiors. One can visit the permanent exhibitions: Representative Royal Chambers, Crown Treasury and Armory, Eastern Art. Turkish Tents, Wawel Lost, Wawel Recovered. Among the most valuable exhibits is the famous coronation sword Szczerbiec from the 13th century.
Another popular attraction of Wawel Hill is the famous Dragon’s Den – an 82-meter-long cave, where the legendary dragon was said to live.
